EID AL-FITR: USTAADH MUSTAPHA URGES MUSLIMS TO UPHOLD RIGHTEOUSNESS, FAMILY BONDS

THE Deputy Imam, Aba-ọjẹ Muslim Community Mosque, Ustaadh Mustapha Badmus Abū Haneefah, has called upon Muslims to uplift religious righteousness, after leading the 'Eid al-Fitr congregational prayer today.

The Imam, who led the two-unit (Rak’āt) prayer with the recitation of Suratul Qāf in the first Rak’ah and Sūratul Qamar in the second, centered his sermon on the topic: “The Reason for Eid and the Duties of Muslims on the Day.”

Muslims gathered in large numbers today at Aba-ọjẹ Community Mosque, Kutẹ, Wofun—Olodo, Ibadan, to observe the joyous occasion of Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

In his address, he reminded the faithful that Eid is not merely a day of celebration, but one of responsibility and continued obedience to Allah.

“Eid is a gift from Allah, but it comes with responsibilities. It is a day to strengthen our bonds and to reflect the values we have learned during Ramadan,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of social harmony, Ustaadh Mustapha urged Muslims to extend kindness beyond their immediate circles.

“Doing good to friends, relatives, and neighbours is part of the essence of this day. Let no one around you feel neglected or forgotten,” he admonished.

He further emphasized the significance of family, calling on worshippers to be intentional in nurturing their closest relationships.

“Reach out to your parents with kindness, show compassion to your spouses, and guide your children with love and care. These are acts beloved to Allah,” he stated.

Addressing moral discipline, the Imam cautioned against returning to sinful acts after Ramadan.

“It is not befitting for a believer to abandon righteousness after Ramadan. Leave aside all that Allah has forbidden, even in times of celebration,” he warned.

The sermon concluded with prayers for unity, peace, and continued guidance for the Muslim Ummah, as worshippers exchanged greetings and goodwill following the prayer.

Eid al-Fitr continues to serve as a reminder of faith, gratitude, and the enduring values of compassion, generosity, and righteousness among Muslims worldwide.
