FIRE DESTROYS OFFICIAL RECORDS AT KWARA UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

SEVERAL official records, including files, documents and journals, were destroyed on Friday night after a fire outbreak gutted storage offices at the Kwara State University of Education , Ilorin . The incident occurred at about 9:14 p.m. and affected three out of four buildings housing offices used for the storage of the institution’s official records. Some students of the university disclosed that the fire also impacted the institution’s Biology Laboratory , although the extent of damage was not immediately clear. It was gathered that the affected facility was formerly used by the Kwara State College of Education before it was converted to the University of Education by the state government. ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES KILL 11 PALESTINIANS IN GAZA

NO fewer than 11 Palestinians were killed on Saturday following fresh Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip , according to the territory’s Ministry of Health . The ministry said the casualties included civilians sheltering in a displacement tent in southern Gaza, as the Director-General of the Ministry of Health, Munir al-Barsh, told AFP that the victims died after Israeli strikes hit a tent housing displaced civilians and a residential apartment. He disclosed that at least 20 other persons sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Gaza City and Khan Yunis for medical attention. AT least two persons lost their lives on Friday in a road accident while travelling to the burial of the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State , Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo . The fatal crash occurred along the Toru-Orua axis of the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road, when an 18-seater commercial bus conveying mourners to Ofoni community in Sagbama Local Government Area reportedly collided with another vehicle. Eyewitnesses said the impact left two passengers dead on the spot, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Confirming the incident, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe , said victims rescued from the scene were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. “The injured passengers are currently receiving emergency care, and efforts are being made to stabilise them,” he stated.
