2026 WASSCE RESULTS: AUGUST 3 RELEASE DATE REMAINS UNCONFIRMED BY WAEC

THE release date for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates remains unconfirmed by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), despite earlier reports suggesting that the results could be released on Monday, August 3, 2026.

The August 3 date had been widely circulated following reports in July that the examination body was nearing the completion of the processes required to release the results. However, as of Monday, August 3, there has been no publicly verifiable official announcement from WAEC confirming that the 2026 WASSCE results would be released on that date.

Similarly, there is currently no publicly verified official statement from WAEC confirming that the release has been formally postponed.

The development has generated uncertainty among candidates, parents, schools and other stakeholders who have been awaiting the results.

Earlier reports indicated that WAEC expected to release the 2026 WASSCE results around August 3, following the completion of the necessary processing and other result-release procedures. However, the date should be regarded as an expected or reported timeline rather than a formally confirmed release date unless and until the Council issues an official announcement.

The development comes shortly after WAEC announced the release of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results. The BECE results, however, are separate from the WASSCE results for School Candidates, and the release of the former does not necessarily indicate when the latter will be published.

Meanwhile, candidates awaiting the 2026 WASSCE results are advised to remain cautious of unverified claims circulating on social media and unofficial platforms, particularly those promising early access to results.

Candidates should instead monitor WAEC's official communication channels and the official result-checking platform for authentic updates concerning the release of the 2026 WASSCE results.
