Delta Woman Becomes First ₦1 Million Masoyinbo’s Winner

A woman from Delta State, Morenike Adedoyin, popularly known as Iwanike Elejigbaileke, has made history as the first contestant to win the ₦1 million grand prize on the Yoruba-language cultural game show, Masoyinbo.

Adedoyin achieved the feat during the programme’s 362nd episode, which aired on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Her victory was confirmed during the episode by the show’s host, Olalekan Fabilola, who announced that she was the first contestant to claim the programme’s ₦1 million top prize.

NINE CORRECT ANSWERS

According to reports following the episode, Adedoyin answered nine of the 10 questions correctly during the contest, securing the ₦1 million cash prize but falling short of the additional car reward associated with the show's top performance.

Her command of Yoruba stood out during the contest, particularly because of her background outside the Yoruba ethnic group.

Reports identify Adedoyin as being from the Kwale area of Delta State. She has explained that her familiarity with Yoruba developed from childhood, including through her grandmother, who came from a Yoruba-speaking community.

Her performance has since attracted attention online, with many viewers highlighting her mastery of the language despite her Delta State background.

A PRIZE THAT HAD REMAINED UNCLAIMED

Adedoyin's achievement also marks the end of a long wait for the show's ₦1 million grand prize.

Earlier reports on Masoyinbo documented that the top cash prize had remained unclaimed despite the programme featuring numerous contestants, including well-known Nigerian entertainers and public figures. The show's creator and host, Olalekan Fabilola, has described the programme as an effort to promote Yoruba language and cultural knowledge through entertainment.

The show's format challenges participants with questions relating to Yoruba language, culture, traditions and heritage, while contestants are expected to communicate in Yoruba rather than switch to English.

FROM LANGUAGE LEARNING TO A HISTORIC WIN

Adedoyin's success has added another dimension to Masoyinbo's broader cultural objective.

Her story demonstrates how exposure to a language outside one's immediate ethnic background can develop into a strong command of that language. Her reported journey from childhood exposure to eventually claiming the show's biggest prize has also generated conversations about language learning and cultural identity.

With her Episode 362 performance, Adedoyin has now become the first contestant to successfully claim the ₦1 million Masoyinbo grand prize, turning what had long been an elusive target on the programme into a reality.
