UPDATED: WAEC RELEASES 2026 WASSCE RESULTS, 61.54% SECURE FIVE CREDITS

WAEC released 2026 results

THE West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates in Nigeria.

The results were announced on Wednesday during a press briefing at the Council's National Office in Yaba, Lagos, by the Head of WAEC's Nigeria National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut.


According to WAEC, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the 2026 WASSCE. Of this number, 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 percent, obtained a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, the benchmark commonly required for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The examination body also disclosed that the results of 167,486 candidates (8.59%) have been withheld over alleged examination malpractice. WAEC stated that the affected cases are under investigation and that appropriate decisions will be taken after due process.

Candidates can now check their results through WAEC's official result-checking platform using their examination details and the required result-checking PIN.

WAEC advised candidates and the general public to rely only on its official communication channels for authentic information regarding the examination and result-checking process, while warning against fraudulent websites and individuals claiming to offer unauthorized access to results.

The release of the 2026 WASSCE results brings an end to days of speculation over the announcement date and marks the beginning of the admission process for thousands of candidates seeking placement into higher institutions across Nigeria.
